Aristolochia gibertii Hook.

Name

-

Habit

twining liana > 3 m

Inflorescence

4-5 cm, faint decay odour

Origin

Brazil, Bolivia

Seeds

flat, largely winged and nearly oval, no elaiosome

Aristolochia gibertii belongs to the smaller members of the broadly variable labiata complex and therefore appears a lot like small-flowered morphs of Aristolochia esperanzae.

The taxonomy and relationship behind this species and A. esperanzae is not resolved at all yet and would be in heavy need of investigations.

The specimen shown here might in fact represent a hybrid of Aristolochia gibertii.
